Diesel, a seven-year-old Belgian shepherd, was a member of the SWAT team which stormed an apartment block in the Parisian suburb of St-Denis yesterday morning during an anti-terror raid.
Diesel's death sparked a wave of mourning across social
media, under the Twitter hashtag #JeSuisChien or #JeSuisDiesel.
Twitter users are posting pictures of their pets online
to pay tribute to police dog Diesel, who was killed by a female suicide bomber
yesterday during a French anti-terror raid.
Tributes quickly poured in to the much-loved canine who
had been decorated with service medals after a distinguished career in the
force
