The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected
serial killer who had been on its wanted list over the crisis that led to the
death of several persons before, during and after the last general elections.
The suspect, identified simply as Tayo, was arrested
after he came out of his hideout to cause trouble at Apasa area of Ajegunle.
It was learned that Tayo, alleged to be on the payroll
of some politicians, is the leader of
the dreaded Apasa boys in the the
area.
Vanguard gathered that several attempts to arrest Tayo,
also suspected to be a member of Eiye
confraternity had been unsuccessful, as he went into hiding after
committing crime in the area.
When news of his arrest filtered in, most of the
residents reportedly hailed the Police. One of them, Kayode Isiaka, told
Vanguard: “Tayo was arrested at Apasa junction, unknown to him that the police
were out for him . But his arrest did not come easy. The first team of
policemen that attempted to arrest him could not because he used charms to glue
himself to a spot. A reinforcement team succeeded in moving him from the spot.”
