Tim Peake Gives First Press Conference From Space

Tim Peake has given his first press conference from the International Space Station.
Major Peake, who blasted into orbit on a Soyuz rocket on Tuesday, has said he is ‘loving every minute’ of his first days on the ISS.

Aside from giving a press conference, Major Peake will today unpack cargo from a spacecraft, spend an hour on the exercise bike and take part in a Canadian experiment called Marrow, investigating the effects of radiation on bone marrow, the European Space Agency said.

The 43-year-old revealed earlier today that his first meal in space was a bacon sarnie and a cup of tea.

Major Peake told members of the press via a live link to the European Astronaut Centre near Cologne, Germany, that he felt ‘incredibly privileged’ to be on board the ISS.

He answered a number of questions about life on the space station, and even showed off his zero-gravity somersault. He said getting used to zero-gravity was similar to learning to ski, and revealed that he and the other astronauts wash using flannels.
