Putin Accepts US is Sole Superpower

President Vladimir Putin said on Friday he accepted the United States was probably still the world's sole superpower and he was ready to work with whoever won the presidency, but didn't want to be told how to live by Americans.

Putin's comments follow a rocky period in US-Russia relations, which have been undermined by disagreements over issues such as Ukraine and Syria.

Barack Obama calls Jo Cox's Widow to Offer 'Sincere Condolences' After 'Heinous' Murder

Barack Obama has called the widow of Jo Cox from Air Force One to offer his "sincere condolences" after the "heinous" murder of the MP.

The US president spoke to Brendan Cox on Friday, a day after the MP was was shot and stabbed outside her constituency surgery in Birstall, near Leeds.

"President Obama offered his sincere condolences on behalf of the American people to Mr Cox and his two young children, as well as to her friends, colleagues and constituents," a White House statement said.
