French Olympics Walker Yohann Diniz Poos Himself Mid-Race
A French athlete battled through an extremely sticky situation after he suffered the unfortunate ignominy of pooing himself 15km into the men’s Olympic 50km walking race.
Yohann Diniz’s plight was caught on camera with brown stains running down the back of his legs after soiling his pants midway through the contest.
Diniz was the favourite to clinch gold in Rio and is the world record holder. But once illness kicked in he struggled to dominate the pack.
You’ve got to feel pretty sorry for the guy, seeing his Olympic dreams end in such humiliating fashion.
Hungry Locals Break into Zoo and Butcher Horse
A group of hungry locals broke into a zoo and butchered a
horse for meat.Food shortages in the struggling country are being blamed as
one of the main reasons for the horrid incident which took place at Caracas’
Caricuao Zoo – last month.
In the early hours, when the zoo was closed, the group broke
into the state-run attraction. They took the black stallion, the only one of
its kind at the zoo, from its pen and then chopped the animal up in a secluded
spot.

Patients Provide Cotton Wool, Methylated Spirit —ABUTH Doctors
The National Association of Resident Doctors, Ahmadu Bello
University Hospital, has lamented the high level of rot in the tertiary
healthcare institution, saying patients now provide cotton wool and methylated
spirit for their treatment.
Members of the association, who lodged their complaints with
the Senate on Friday, said they had held a week’s protest and would embark on a
three-day warning strike on Monday, after which an indefinite strike would hold
should the management of the hospital fail to respond.
Declare Independence and Face Treason Charges, Police tells Avengers
The Police on Friday gave a stern warning to the Niger Delta
Avengers against its planned secession from Nigeria, saying it is a treasonable
offence.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Donald Awunah, who
stated this in Abuja said the security agencies would not allow any action that
might lead to a breakdown of law and order in any part of the country.
Awunah advised the militant group against daring the might
of the Federal Government, describing their reported plan to declare a Niger
Delta republic on October 1 as provocative.

A middle-aged Fulani woman simply identified as Asmau
(pictured above) has been arrested for stealing two children of the woman she
was working for in Ogere, Ogun state and taking them to Ikorodu in Lagos state
where she turned them to street beggars, Vanguard reports.
Asmau who served as a housemaid to the mother of the two
children, worked for four months before kidnapping the children Amina, 6 and
Rukayya, 7.

Lagos Ranked ‘Third Worst’ City to Live In the World
According to Global Livability Index of a survey survey
conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit, Lagos state, the commercial nerve
center of Nigeria, is the third worst city to live in.
Lagos placed 138th out of the 140 cities ranked in the
latest livability survey, just above war-ravaged Tripoli and Damascus.

Manchester Airport Terminal 2 Evacuated After ‘Unattended Bag’ Found
Manchester Airport carried out a part evacuation of
Terminal 2 this evening after an ‘unattended bag’ was discovered outside the
building.
Passengers on the terminal’s land side were cleared
from the building and the area surrounding the bag cordoned off after it was
discovered shortly before 7pm.
Police officers and fire fighters were called to the
incident but have now been stood down after it was determined the item posed no
threat.
Mexico Police 'Executed 22 People in Michoacan
Mexico's National Human Rights Commission said 22
people were executed by federal police during a confrontation on a ranch in the
western state of Michoacan last year.
The commission had investigated the clash, which
took place at a ranch in the town of Tanhuato in May 2015.
A total of 42 suspected members of a drug cartel
died in the clash, as well as one police officer.
Man Reveals His Face for First Time since Tiger Attack
A man who was horrifically disfigured in a tiger
attack and is forced to cover up his face has gone public with his scars for
the first time.
Hashmot Ali, from southern Bangladesh, was sleeping
in a boat docked in a forest canal when a tiger crept up behind him.
The animal dragged its claws across his face,
tearing it apart with a single stroke.
As the man screamed in pain, the tiger tried to pull
him from the boat waking his colleagues.
US Apologises for Swimmers 'Unacceptable Behaviour'
The United States Olympic Committee has apologised
for what it called the unacceptable behaviour of four US swimmers who falsely
said they had been robbed at gunpoint in Rio.
Police questioned three of the gold medal winners
and say "they were not victims of the crimes they claimed".
Two of the four - Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger -
were allowed to fly out of Rio on Thursday evening.

Louisiana Residents Begin Cleanup as Flood Waters Recede
Flood waters receded in southern Louisiana on
Wednesday (Aug 17), after a days-long deluge that inundated vast areas, claimed
11 lives, and impacted some 40,000 homes.
Residents were cleaning up in many neighbourhoods,
and trying to assess the scope of the devastation left by heavy, unrelenting
rains that overwhelmed rivers and sent them flooding over their banks.
"When you have a storm that is unnamed, wasn't
a tropical storm, wasn't a hurricane, a lot of the times people underestimate
the impacts that it would have," Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards said
Tuesday.
One Killed in Pulwama Clashes, Curfew Enters 41st Day in Valley
A lecturer was killed and 18 others were injured in
clashes between security forces and protesters who were opposing a search
operation in Khrew area of Pulwama district in Kashmir where curfew and restrictions
remained in force for the 41st day.
Shabir Ahmad Monga, a contractual lecturer,
died when he and several others were beaten up at Khrew late last night, a
police official said. He said 18 other persons, mostly youths, have been
admitted to a hospital here.
Egypt Suspends Eight TV Presenters for Being 'Too Fat'
Eight Egyptian television presenters have been told
to drop weight or lose their jobs, sparking uproar among women's rights groups.
The Egyptian Radio and Television Union (Ertu) has
suspended for a month eight female presenters which it deemed too overweight to
appear on camera.
According to newspaper al-Youm al-Sabe, which is
privately owned, the decision was taken by Ertu’s new female director Safaa
Hegazi, who has given the women one month to lose weight before they can appear
on air again with an "appropriate appearance."

US Swimmers Were Not Robbed, Says Rio Police Chief
Four US Olympic gold medal swimmers who said they
had been robbed in Rio de Janeiro were not victims of crime, the head of the
city's civil police says.
Fernando Veloso told reporters that one or more of
the men had instead vandalised part of a petrol station and then offered to pay
for the damage.
The Americans paid and left after armed security
guards intervened, he said.
One guard had justifiably drawn his gun after one of
the swimmers began behaving erratically, Mr Veloso added.

Disney Erecting Fencing, Posting 'Danger' Signs After Gator Attack
Construction
workers have put up a waterfront barrier at the Grand Floridian Resort &
Spa in Walt Disney World, three days after a toddler was killed by an alligator
at the resort.
Meanwhile,
Disney World released a photo of signs it plans to erect at all its resorts
with beaches. The red, white and black signs say "Danger! Alligators and
snakes in area. Stay away from the water. Do not feed the wildlife."
Previously,
signs had said simply "no swimming."
Parents ‘Gifted’ Teen Daughter To Man Found With 12 Girls, Police Say
A
Pennsylvania couple told authorities they “gifted” their teenage daughter to a
man who helped save them from financial ruin — and thought the arrangement was
legal, even after the man fathered two children with the girl.

51, was found living with the teen, now 18, as his wife, along with 11 younger
girls, when a neighbor’s tip sent child welfare workers and police to his small
Bucks County house on Thursday, police said. He was jailed under $1 million
bail on charges of statutory sexual assault and corrupting the morals of
minors.
Judge Orders Leonardo DiCaprio To Give Deposition In ‘Wolf Of Wall Street’ Lawsuit
A federal
judge has ordered actor Leonardo DiCaprio to be deposed in a defamation lawsuit
brought by a former Stratton Oakmont executive over his alleged depiction in
the 2013 Martin Scorsese film “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
U.S.
Magistrate Judge Steven Locke in Central Islip, New York, on Thursday said
DiCaprio must be made available for questioning, which was opposed by Viacom
Inc’s Paramount Pictures Corp, DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions and other
defendants.

Russia Cries Foul, Rest Of World Welcomes IAAF’s Ban
Russia
claimed the IAAF’s decision to continue its ban of Russian athletics on Friday
was unfair and threatened legal action, while the rest of the world welcomed
the move and urged the IOC not to go against it.
“We are
extremely disappointed by the IAAF’s decision, creating the unprecedented
situation of a whole nation’s track and field athletes being banned from the
Olympics,” said the Russian ministry of sport.
Putin Accepts US is Sole Superpower
President
Vladimir Putin said on Friday he accepted the United States was probably still
the world's sole superpower and he was ready to work with whoever won the
presidency, but didn't want to be told how to live by Americans.
Putin's
comments follow a rocky period in US-Russia relations, which have been
undermined by disagreements over issues such as Ukraine and Syria.

Barack Obama
has called the widow of Jo Cox from Air Force One to offer his "sincere
condolences" after the "heinous" murder of the MP.
The US
president spoke to Brendan Cox on Friday, a day after the MP was was shot and
stabbed outside her constituency surgery in Birstall, near Leeds.
"President
Obama offered his sincere condolences on behalf of the American people to Mr
Cox and his two young children, as well as to her friends, colleagues and
constituents," a White House statement said.
