Man Arrested For Children's Murder

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly killing his two children in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.

It is alleged that the suspect used a kitchen knife to kill his seven-year-old daughter and eleven-year-old son at the weekend.

Police believe the suspect, a father of three, was planning to kill all his children including a four-year-old boy, his estranged wife then himself.

However, the man could not access the youngest child. The children lived with their mother and visited their father on weekends.

Police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala says the man will appear in court on Tuesday.

Mohlala says: "The 36 years old suspect is expected to appear in the Middelburg magistrates court on charges of murder."

"It is alleged the man wanted to kill his children as well as his wife because the wife is now living with another man just a few streets away.
