Liverpool
defender Martin Skrtel is set to join Turkish club Fenerbahce for a reported
fee of £5.5m, according to reports.
Skrtel is
currently at Euro 2016 with Slovakia and is expected to sign after the
tournament wraps up, the Daily Telegraph said.
The 31-year
old started just four games for Jurgen Klopp’s side after returning from injury
in January and his chances seem limited for next season after falling behind
Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure in the pecking order.
The signing
of Cameroon defender Joel Matip from Schalke would also suggest that Skrtel’s
eight-year stay at Anfield is nearing an end.
Skrtel is
expected to undergo a medical and make the switch once Slovakia’s tournament is
over.
