At least 41 civilians have been killed in a Yemen
market by warplanes part of a Saudi Arabia-led coalition, officials have said.
An official at a hospital run by Doctors Without
Borders said that the hospital had received the bodies of the dead, along with
35 people who were wounded.
A health official said that many of the dead ‘are
children who work stalls.’‘The scene was terrifying,’ Showei Hamoud told
Associated Press.
‘Blood and body parts everywhere.” Many of the dead
are children who work stalls or carry goods in return for tips.’
He added that people were collecting ‘torn limbs in
bags and blankets’.Amnesty International said yesterday that Saudi
Arabia had led a campaign of ‘unlawful’ air strikes and that ‘thousands have
died.’
‘Yemen is now in a humanitarian crisis,’ it said.Amnesty urged countries including the US to cancel
arm sales to the country.
‘Amnesty International has found both unexploded
U.S. bombs and fragments of exploded U.S. bombs in the ruins of Yemeni homes
and other civilian objects,’ it said.
