The police in Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub said on
Tuesday that three female students were abducted by unknown gunmen from their
hostels on Monday night in Ikorodu area of the state.
Dolapo Badmus, the state police spokesperson Dolapo
Badmus, who confirmed the development to Xinhua, said detectives have swung
into action to secure the release of the girls.
The gunmen stormed Babington Macaulay Junior
Seminary school at about 8 p.m, local time and took three female students along
with them.
The school, located at Agunfoye-Lugbusi village, is
owned by the Anglican Communion, Lagos Diocese.
Abduction is common in Nigeria. Over 300 foreigners
and ransom-able citizens have been seized in the Niger Delta since 2006. Almost
all have been released unharmed after paying a ransom.
