An inmate who had sex with two former prison guards
is now suing Washington County and the sheriff.
Former jail services technicians Jill Curry, 39, and
Brett Robinson, 33, are currently in jail serving sentences for custodial
sexual misconduct among other crimes.
The lawsuit is seeking $650,000 (£459,363) in
damages alleging assault and battery along with negligent hiring and
supervision.
According to the lawsuit, filed on March 3, Curry
and Robinson both repeatedly had ‘unconsented’ and ‘coercive’ sex with the
inmate.
It claims the jail workers abused their power and
took advantage of him and the county failed to prevent it through its hiring
and training practices.
The inmate was a 25-year-old gang member and sex
offender who spent time in jail before.
Lawyers for Curry and Robinson argue that the inmate
pursued them and eventually convinced them to unlock several doors and let him
into other areas of the unit for sex.
Records say the inmate is in state prison for
attempted second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with a
witness.
Washington County spokesman Philip Bransford said
the county does not believe it is liable in this case.
