Police Nab Man Who Reshapes, Sells Stolen Vehicles


The Enugu state Police Command has arrested one John Chijioke, an auto electrician in the state for reshaping and selling stolen vehicles.

The suspect, a native of Ebonyi State and part of a syndicate that specialised in stealing and remodeling vehicles before selling them, was arrested while working on a stolen car at his shop in Mgbemena Street, Awada Layout, Onitsha, Anambra State.

Operatives of the Ogui Division of the Command recovered a Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number ENU 358 NK, from his shop during a regional search.


Meanwhile, the vehicle was stolen from the owner in the Awkunanaw area of Enugu on February 20.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said the police was on the trail of other members of the gang, adding that Chijioke will be charged to court soon.

Amaraizu said the vehicle was traced to the suspect’s shop in the course of investigations into the robbery.
