A man has been accused of beating his young son to death
and feeding him to pigs.
Michael Jones, a 44-year-old man from Kansas City, was
initially arrested for assaulting his wife, 29-year-old Heather Jones, at their
home and firing a gun at her.
When police started to investigate, however, someone told
them that they should search the family’s back garden.
The next day, they discovered the decomposing remains of
Jones’s seven-year-old son.
Locals who knew the couple said they had eight children,
aged between one and 11, but their son had gone missing earlier this year.
They also claimed Jones’s wife added livestock to their
barn in September.
Investigators are worried that the remains of the child
were fed to pigs, according to a police source. The corpse has yet to be
formally identified.
‘Their house was horrible,’ one woman told local station
WSFA on condition of anonymity. ‘Their house was just filthy. The kids lived in
filth. Trash everywhere, dried food all over the house.’
And former babysitters for the family said a number of
people had contacted child services about the kids. The seven other children
are now believed to be in protective custody.
