MOUNTAIN Lion Set Free After 20 Years Chained up

A mountain lion has just been freed after spending 20 sad years in captivity.
Mufasa had been tied up in chains as a performing act in a travelling circus in Peru for the last two decades.

But rescuers from Animal Defenders International launched a raid with the help of riot police, and had an eight-hour stand off with the troupe.

In the end, they were able to help Mufasa escape.

And they then filmed the moment he was released back into his rightful home – the wild.
‘A heavy harness and chains were wrapped around his body and as we cut them away, he stretched, free, for the first time.

‘It is magical to see him moving about in and out of the trees in his own piece of protected forest.’
