A picture newly released by Nasa shows London as it
appears from space at night.
With its sprawling network of roads converging near the
centre, the capital looks like a giant, illuminated web.
London’s parks appear on the map as dark spots, as do
many of the less urban areas on the outskirts of the city, and the Thames
working its way through the middle is unmissable.
The image was taken by astronaut Dr Kjell Lindgren on the
International Space Station.
