Trend to Promote Protection During Sex Sparks Safety Fears 'Condom Challenge'

A new online craze is sweeping the internet - but it's also sparking safety fears.
The condom challenge involves a person dropping a water-inflated condom onto a pal's head.

But instead of exploding, the latex material forms a bulb of water around the person's head, cutting off their air supply.

Participants try to keep the condom intact long enough to get a photo or footage of their effort. It is thought this social media craze was started by friends in Japan whose clip went viral earlier this month.

Some have liken the craze to the Ice Bucket Challenge of last year which saw millions get involved to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Amanda Renae Snow added: "This #condomchallenge is super dangerous. What happens when you can't get it off and you suffocate and die???"
