The wife of the president, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has
expressed concern over the recent reports of alleged sexual abuse of minors
in a school in Kano State.
Mrs Buhari was speaking at the Presidential Villa in
Abuja Wednesday while meeting with parents of some of the victims and other
concerned women.
A statement yesterday by her spokesman, Zakari Nadabo,
said the meeting followed the receipt of a petition by parents of two of the
victims of the sexual abuse.
The statement said the wife of the president promised to
take all appropriate actions on the issue.
According to the statement, she commended “the concerned
mothers for taking a bold step in coming out to petition such immoral
tendencies in the society.”
Mrs Buhari was also quoted to have acknowledged the steps
being taken by the Kano State government in addressing the issue.
