Two British couples who were among seven people killed in
a helicopter crash in New Zealand have been named.
Andrew Virco, 50, and his partner Katharine Walker, 51,
both from Cambridge, and Nigel Charlton, 66, and his wife Cynthia, 70, from
Hampshire, were on the sightseeing helicopter, which crashed into a glacier on
the Fox Glacier, on the country’s South Island, yesterday.
Also killed were Australians Sovannmony Leang, 27, and
Josephine Gibson, 29, along with Mitchell Gameren, 28.
The district’s mayor has said the weather at the time of
the crash was ‘not ideal’ for flying.
