Felony Charge For Woman Who Threatened to Stab Prosecutor at Barberton Court

A Norton woman accused of threatening to stab a prosecutor after a court hearing Thursday remains jailed on $250,000 bond.

Terryl Baker, 47, is now charged with retaliation, a third-degree felony. The charge added on Friday carries a penalty from probation to five years in prison.

Prosecutors on Friday also added a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon to an already existing charge of inducing panic.

Baker appeared at a hearing Friday before Barberton Municipal Court Judge Jill Flagg Lanzinger. Baker told the judge that she got upset with the handling of a disorderly conduct case in which she claimed she was assaulted by an 82-year-old man.

"It was a bad choice of words to say I wanted to say stab her," Baker said during the hearing. "I'm not a danger at all. I just want to hide in my room with my dogs."
Baker got upset about 9:20 a.m. Thursday during a court hearing in the case.

She left the hearing and went to the prosecutor's office on the third floor of the Barberton Municipal Court building.

Baker threatened to stab a 44-year-old prosecutor, witnesses told police. Three other prosecutors and court employees witnessed the encounter. Prosecutor's office employees set off an alarm forcing an evacuation of the third floor.

She cursed at officers and struggled with police in front of the building when they tried to take her back inside, police reports say.

Baker told police that she took three Xanax pills and "had only 'two shots of vodka that morning,'" a police report says. She continued to say she wanted to "stab that (b---h) prosecutor," according to a police report.

Officers found a folding knife in her purse
