The Godfather star Abe Vigoda has died in a hospice at
the age of 94.
The acclaimed actor was best known for playing Detective
Phil Fish for eight years in the popular 80s sitcom Barney Miller. Although
film fans may find him more recognisable from his role in The Godfather and The
Godfather Part II.
He also voiced the character again as recently as 2007
for a series of Godfather video games. He also worked up until 2014, when he
appeared in the movie Sweet Destiny with Lou Martini Jr.
Vigoda’s death has been falsely reported on numerous
occasions in the past, with the hoaxes cleverly written into Barney Miller
episodes at one point.
Abe leaves behind a daughter Carol Vigoda Fuchs.
