After H&M got loads of love for featuring its first
Muslim model, we hoped the fashion industry would sit up, take notice, and
start expanding their offerings to include women who choose to wear the hijab.
But the fashion world’s response has been pretty
underwhelming. It’s still a struggle for Muslim women to find fashion-forward
clothing that meets their needs, without heading to a specialist shop or going
custom-made.
One fashion label taking a step in the right direction is
Dolce & Gabbana.
Style.com/Arabia were the first to showcase D&G’s
debut collection of high end hijabs and abayas (the full length dresses often
worn by Muslim women), highlighting the brand as one of the few major fashion
labels to tap into this prominent demographic.
