British Man Stabbed to Death During ‘Bad Trip’ in Amazonian Ayahuasca Ceremony

A British man was stabbed to death during an ayahuasca ceremony at an Amazonian spiritual retreat in Peru.

Witnesses said Unais Gomes, 26, was killed by Joshua Andrew Freeman Stevens, a 29-year-old Canadian man, as they took the hallucinogenic plant brew ayahuasca together.

They told local police chief Normando Marques that the stabbing was in self defence after Gomes allegedly attacked Stevens with a knife during the ceremony near the jungle city of Iquitos on Wednesday night.

Stevens was taken into police custody.
