Cape Town - Brand new hand-held devices have been
deployed by the Western Cape transport and public works department to help
provincial traffic officers over the festive season.
The hand-held devices will be used by traffic officers in
the field, as a fast, information-verifying tool that will assist enforcement,
transport and public works MEC Donald Grant said on Sunday.
The devices had been entirely developed and tested over
the past two years by the department, and would be in operation across the
Western Cape - a first of its kind in South Africa, he said.
