Man Made a Video of Himself Preparing to Commit Suicide,Then Sent it to His Mother on Whatsapp

A heartbroken father filmed himself preparing to commit suicide and sent the footage to his mother but she didn't receive it until after the tragedy, an inquest heard.

Just moments after sending the video and a picture via Whatsapp, Craig Westby hanged himself at his home after 'losing interest in life' following the split from his girlfriend.

His mother only received the video six hours later when she woke up in the morning, by which time it was too late to save her son.

The 26-year-old's body was found at his home in Chesterton after he failed to turn up to work on July 2 this year.

Mother Beverley Alexander, of Congleton, Cheshire, told North Staffordshire's senior coroner Ian Smith how her son had talked about killing himself in the past.

She said: 'He became upset at the beginning of the year when he broke up with his girlfriend.

'He used to send me texts saying 'this life is not for me' and 'I can't deal with it'.

'I used to try and talk him around and make things OK. I didn't really think he was serious.
